Lake Cowichan Summer Camp
The BW Hockey Lake Cowichan Summer High-Performance Camp is a five-day, Monday to Friday development experience set in the unique training environment of Lake Cowichan. This camp is designed to combine hockey development with multi-sport training, team building, and summer camp energy in a focused, high-performance setting. Led by Brandon Wong and the BW Hockey coaching staff, players will train in a structured program designed to improve individual skills, athletic performance, and overall hockey understanding in a fun and competitive atmosphere.
Levels

Camp Structure
Players will be divided into training groups by level to ensure high-quality coaching attention, optimal development, and balanced ice utilization. Daily training includes:
- 2 on-ice sessions per group
- Dryland training (speed, strength & agility)
- Soccer training (coordination, conditioning & athletic movement)
- Video training & hockey education sessions
- Skill development & small-area games
- Guest speaker presentations
- Team-based challenges & activities
BW Hockey Foundations
Suggested ages 6–12. For players who can skate independently, listen to coaching instructions and apply direction during drills. Sessions may include:
- Skating: speed, edges, technique, jumping and races
- Puck handling: technique, overspeed with the puck and 1-on-1 moves
- Game situations: skills and drills taken directly from game situations
- Compete and fun: small-area games, battles and stickhandling circuits
BW Hockey Performance
Suggested ages 9–14 · Non-contact or Contact. Performance sessions move at a faster pace and introduce more complex skills, skill combinations, decision-making and game situations. Minimum requirement: players must have reached the BW Hockey Foundations skill level. Not sure if your player is ready for Performance? BW Hockey Prospects
Suggested ages 14–18. Our highest-level skills sessions, for players preparing for advanced competitive hockey and junior opportunities. Minimum requirement: players should consistently perform BW Hockey Performance-level skills at game pace before moving into Prospects. Not sure if your player is ready for Prospects? Book a consultation session to have their current skill level assessed. Sessions are high-tempo and technically demanding, with a focus on:
- Game-speed execution
- Advanced skill development
- Decision-making under pressure
- Advanced game concepts
- Junior prep
Weekly Highlight
- Wednesday swimming day — a dedicated mid-week recovery and team-building experience designed to promote recovery, fun, and group bonding in a relaxed environment

Additional Information
Hot lunches are available to order separately at an additional cost. This camp offers the perfect blend of elite hockey development, athletic training, and summer camp atmosphere in Lake Cowichan — helping players return to the season faster, stronger, and more confident. Transportation to off-site activities is not included.
